CIM Chartered Postgraduate Diploma (Stage 2)

The course is designed for marketing professionals who have prior experience and have successfully completed the CIM Chartered Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing (Stage 1).

This stage is designed to enable students to design, implement and evaluate a live strategic business project and to develop their personal and professional skills, knowledge and behaviours. Students will be expected to self manage their learning and add value to their organisation and - or business sector.

Those who complete this qualification should be eligible to achieve Chartered Marketer status provided they have the relevant experience and have registered on the Chartered CPD Programme logging two consecutive years of continuing professional development (CPD).

The assessment for this qualification is based on a 16,000 word work-based strategic project. Students will be expected to design, implement and evaluate a live strategic business project. The majority of students are expected to be in employment in a management position and the project will be based on adding value to either their organisation or business sector. Those students who are not in employment may base the project on a recent employer or business sector or one for which they have permission to work as an external consultant for the purposes of the project.

As students will be implementing a live project, it will be useful for them to gain buy-in and support within their organisation/sector before they embark on this stage of the qualification. It is recommended that the student requests their line manager (or other senior personnel) to mentor them informally throughout. Students are asked to detail this information within their Project Proposal.

It is anticipated that the project, including submission, will take a minimum of six months subject to LSM approval. However we recommend a duration of nine to twelve months.
