Phil Gray

Profile

Phil has 25 years experience as a marketing and communications practitioner in many sectors, including financial services, professional services, and membership bodies. He is currently Communications Director of the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors. 

Phil began his career in the advertising and publicity department of the Woolwich Building Society in the mid 1980s. Then as marketing controller for its housebuilding subsidiary, Woolwich Homes he established and managed the marketing and publicity department. A seven year spell in training and enterprise councils (TECs) followed, where Phil was responsible for managing the corporate communications programme and marketing the TECs training and business support services. He also managed the TECs merger communications programme. A brief spell as marketing manager for a mid tier accountancy firm was followed by five years as Head of Marketing Services at the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), where Phil was responsible for co ordinating member marketing, planning and delivering a number of strategic communications projects, including merger proposals, introduction of compulsory CPD and a Practice Assurance scheme.

Phil holds a BA (Hons) in Business Studies and MA in Strategic Marketing. He is a CIM Diploma holder and Chartered Marketer.
